The brief for this family country garden was to unite it with the house, create wedding space potential and maximise the outstanding views of Bewl reservoir.
Connections
Paving forms a visual linked across the driveway that divided house from garden, and steps lead to a large levelled oval lawn surrounded by retaining walls built from stone recovered from site. Surrounded by planting, a swimming pool terrace uses level changes to form permanent seating and lounging. The stunning reservoir views are enjoyed from here and from a newly created grass platform. A dining terrace with shaded pergola seating surrounded by a herb garden and scented planting is next to the kitchen. A bridge links an informal terrace with boulder seating to an island in the flooded former quarry pit and a waterfall flows down the quarry walls. Design detailing included an engraved stone house name in new entrance pillars.
“We have loved having you in our lives – via the garden! – over the past year… what a magnificent job you have made of it – an inspiration to us and all who enjoy our garden.”
