Set on sloping ground, the gardens surrounding and within its central courtyard of the renovated cider apple farmhouse were designed to incorporate several terraces at different levels.
Farmhouse Garden
An enclosed seating area surrounded by scented planting, with dining terrace nearby. A herb garden with central sundial is easily accessible from the kitchen. At a lower level a terrace is bordered by yew hedging with an uplit sculpture viewed from the dining room, intentionally screening the view of the lane beyond.
Within the courtyard espaliered crab apples border the cobbled turning circle with steps to lower more intimate seating. Production is at the forefront for the farm once more, from the stone pillared fruit cage, to the greenhouse and its raised beds, to the heritage orchard of mixed fruit and orchard of cider apples. A vegetable garden, viewed from the driveway was designed for aesthetics as well as production.
