With glorious views of the Downs, embedding the new family house in its bare sloping site was a priority.
Re-setting
An enlarged driveway improved circulation, with the garage and bin area discreetly set into the slope above the house. To the south a split-level terrace with dining beneath an oak arbour overlooked a large levelled lawn for the children to play. A more intimate west facing terrace was the place for a sundown drink. Whilst traditional country planting surrounded the house, a second lower lawn was bordered by prairie planting peaking in late summer. Near the kitchen, a vegetable garden with raised beds and greenhouse at lower level provided easy access without impeding the views. An irrigated fruit cage was created, and an orchard planted and rainsaver reservoir installed.
“Thank you so much for all your hard work. It has been just fabulous working with you. You’re so meticulous and thorough, I have been able to let go and let you get on with it – heaven! And the results are beautiful!”
